The bodies were not found together. Michael's body was found at the north end of the ditch, while those of Steve and Chris were found quite a ways south of Michael's. We don't know what all was discussed with Jessie, but I'm certain that this was one of the questions they asked, possibly repeatedly, as Ridge and Allen tried to find out what Jessie had "seen."

"Why was one body found away from the other two? Did one of them try to run away or something? Was it Michael Moore?" So, Jessie came up with this as an explanation--Michael had tried to run away, and he'd caught him. Then he says he held Michael until Jason and Damien came to fetch him back, but he ALSO says HE took Michael back to Jason and Damien. Which was it? As so often occurs in Jessie's statements he offers up at least two contradictory details and allows those questioning him take their pick.

By report of some of those who saw the actual ditch before it was bulldozed over, there were two slight trails down from the field east of the BB woods that led to the ditch, one of which took one to above where Michael's body was found, and one above where Steve and Chris's were found. It appears to have been similar for someone from the other side as well, for one coming around the BB fence into that "little patch of woods." It's likely that the bodies were actually carried down into the ditch, Steve and Chris's in one trip, and Michael's and the clothing in a second one, and that the perp took a different path for the two trips--or two perps were going down there, and each took a different path. I suspect the former.

I remain convinced that the boys died at least an hour before their bodies were disposed of in the drainage ditch, and that they lay roughly backside down during much of that time to allow the lividity to develop in the patterns it showed.

Why the nightmares?

A couple years ago when the debates were hot and heavy as to whether or not to pull the plug on that lady down south whose doctors and husband swore was brain-dead, one of my severely mentally ill and moderately retarded clients followed every move. She knows she isn't "normal"--not anywhere near so. She identified with the woman very heavily. and was terrified that the husband would be allowed to let his wife die. She watched the video of the woman following those in the room with her eyes and saw life and purpose there. As M saw the case, if it could happen to this woman she didn't even know, it could possibly happen to her, too. She knows she's seen as weird and, by many, undesirable. She had nightmares about it. When the courts finally ordered the woman's life support to be pulled M suffered for days about it, and remains terrified someone will do it to her, too.

I started to read one of my more pathos-laden stories to another client and had to stop--it was more than she could bear, and she had nightmares afterwards. This was a fictional story about fictional characters--and yet she could empathise so with the leading character she found herself believing it was happening and that he was indeed suffering. She continues to ask me when we meet how that particular character is. To her, he's real.

Still another yells advice at the television screen for the characters in the movies she loves. One day, when watching The Return of the King for the umpteenth time, she was yelling at Frodo, standing over the Cracks of Doom, to "Drop the Ring! Drop it, you fool! Come on, drop it already!" When he turned to face Sam with "The Ring is mine!" she turned to me and said, "You'd think he'd learn!" To her the stories she sees acted out on the screen are that real!

Jessie identified with those little boys, I suspect, and after all he knew one of their playmates well, for he'd babysat for little Aaron Hutchison, who was in their class at school, as his mother continued driving him into West Memphis even though she'd moved to Marion so he wouldn't have to change schools near the end of the year. If it happened to those little boys he didn't know, don't you think he could imagine it happening to Aaron as well, or other kids he knew? It was close to where he lived, and undoubtedly Aaron, coming home from the police station, discussed his own horror at what he'd heard and was induced to tell. Jessie may not have been anywhere as retarded as is M, or as cut off from reality as MH or E, but from what I can tell his thinking is as concrete as is theirs.

As for why the post-conviction confessions--first, we strongly suspect they told him that if he would help them convict the other two, especially Damien, they could possibly get a deal for him, allowing him to know a reduced sentence. We know they discussed the need for such a deal with the parents before cameras. We know they discussed the possibility with the media. Jason has said they discussed such a deal with him. In the end they were officially going to allow Jessie immunity if he'd testify against Damien and Jason. Immunity from what? From further involvement charges? From perjury charges? Perjury in what capacity? For signing an impossible first "confession" and "clarification statement"? For perjuring himself in court should he actually testify against them? We know that he was told he must keep saying his first "confession" was true to everyone, and it was when Stidham first heard him telling his dad that of course he'd not been involved--it was only he'd been told by the police he had to say he had, that Stidham first began to truly question Jessie's statement was real. Then after truly reading it in depth he began looking for someone who could evaluate the statement and tell him if it was coerced, which led him to Ofshe.

The prosecutors met with Jessie multiple times before they announced to Stidham that he'd agree to offer a new confession--a major breach of ethics, as they are not to meet with a defendant with a lawyer of record without that lawyer being present to counsel his client. Stidham protested this move to the court, and Burnett told him he was allowing it. Stidham called for a Bible and had a private consult with Jessie, and suddenly Jessie announced again he'd lied when he made his confession and he wasn't going to make any more statements.

So, the prosecution arranged to have him moved secretly, without Stidham being advised, and had MORE private consults with him, apparently convincing Jessie that Stidham didn't have his best interests at heart. This time when they called Stidham--the "confession" wouldn't be legal without his presence--Jessie told Stidham angrily he had to do something about this, and they led him into another impossible statement.

READ it! Listen to it! It makes no sense! It is vague! It is remarkably inconsistent with the initial "confessions." And it fails to match the physical reality of the BB wooded gully where the bodies were found. And after Jessie says he was so nauseous from the drink and the brutality of the killings that he had to leave, and he paused at an underpass to break his booze bottle and throw up, he went home and suited up for his trip to Dyess and went wrestling. His friends who went with him on these jaunts tell us they picked him up about eight o'clock or so. No one saw any signs of him appearing ill or disturbed any Wednesday night during the weeks leading up to or following the murders.

He says he entered the woods by way of a bridge--there is no bridge he'd have to cross at the BB woods, but there is for the RHH woods south of the drainage canal and east of BB and the pipe bridge and north of the neighborhood. He describes Damien and Jason swimming in the water--the ditch as a stride wide, and knee deep. When was the last time you swam in water than narrow or shallow? He is unclear as to who is removing shoestrings. Oh, there are a LOT of problems with this statement. READ it! Listen to it! Then compare it to the photos of the site at the time.

According to many of the NONs the deal was never discussed with Jessie. According to the NONs all he was EVER promised was immunity. Do you truly believe that if Jessie had agreed to testify against Jason and Damien the prosecution wouldn't have pressed Burnett to allow a drop in sentence and that he wouldn't have probably granted it? The very fact Fogelman speaks of the proposed deal on camera in PL1 is proof it was being considered and probably was already being discussed with Jessie as it had been discussed with Jason.

I'll tell you this, from what I've seen of Jessie Miskelley he was a VERY concrete thinker. Stidham and Crow told him to keep his head down in court--he did it--literally. He'd been raised to believe that breaking a sacred oath would land him in Hell. When Stidham confronted him with a Bible, Jessie broke down and refused to make his first official post-conviction statement. It took days more of working on him--illegally--for the prosecution to get that final statement, and in the end he insists he was lying when he gave it, too.

He did a chat via this discussion board, and in it he told Mrs. Moore flat out, "I had nothing to do with your son's murder." He told her he was sorry Michael had died, but he knew nothing of the real circumstances of his death.

As for the boys dying--do research on "terminal aspiration" and the mechanisms of death as a result of massive head trauma. The body releases fluids into the airways, blocking breathing. Yes, the individual is literally dying of drowning--in his own bodily fluids!

In the first official statements to the press at about four on Friday, May seventh, Peretti told the press he'd completed all three autopsies around one that afternoon, and the cause of death was massive trauma. The autopsy reports weren't released until weeks later, after the police and prosecutors had become convinced that ritual cults had somehow been involved, and now the official cause of death was exsanguination for Christopher and trauma with drowning for Michael and Steve. All three children had similar amounts of frothy fluid, somewhat bloody in the case of one of the boys, in their airways. All three had multiple skull fractures.

A jar of water from the ditch was sent to Peretti--he NEVER had it tested or the fluid from the boys' airways compared to it to see if they died in that ditch! None had waterlogging of the lungs, or excessive water swallowed into their stomachs.

PROVE TO ME THEY DIED IN THE DITCH! You can't.
