The capital murder cases against three teenagers accused of killing three West Memphis 8-year-olds have been transferred to the Crittenden County Circuit Court, a court official said Tuesday.

The three defendants - Michael Wayne Echols, 18, Charles Jason Baldwin, 16, and Jessie Lloyd Misskelley, 17 - first appeared in West Memphis Municipal Court on June 4 and are being held without bond at undisclosed locations.

The cases were bound over to the Circuit Court, where lawyers were appointed for them on June 7.

Although lawyers have filed motions in behalf of the defendants, the cases were officially opened in the circuit court only after Municipal Court files were received Monday, deputy chief Circuit Court Clerk Donna Palmer said Tuesday.

Lawyers involved in the case said they expect a trial judge will be named within the next two weeks.
