West Memphis police say they are not taking seriously a Jonesboro, Ark., man's claim on Memphis radio that he saw the convicted West Memphis child murderers on the day of the 1993 killings but did not realize it until after they were arrested weeks later.

Gary 'Hollywood' Hutchison, 40, said on WEGR-FM 103 Wednesday morning that he saw the three men together near the Mississippi River at what Hutchison now believes was where the three boys were killed. The bodies of the 8-year-olds were discovered in a wooded area in their neighborhood several miles away.

"I listened to it awhile, and turned it off," said West Memphis Police Insp. James R. Sudbury. "We're not on the same planet as that man." But Sudbury invited Hutchison to come forward. "If he wants to make a statement, we'll listen to him."

Hutchison said he reported the incident to Jonesboro Police Cpl. Rick Irvin, but never attempted to contact the West Memphis authorities.

Irvin said Wednesday that Hutchison "never said anything to me like that... He tends to stretch the truth."
