I transcribed these from a photo of the front of a microfilm machine (it had no copy maker). The quality of my photos are poor, so if you seem them in callahan's section, that will be the reason for their poor quality. I recommend you only try reading them if you want to make sure I transcribed a portion correctly. I tried to keep the typos intact.

Drug suspects, others freed due to overcrowding
Ten of the 17 people arrested in a drug sting operation conducted by the Arkansas State Police are free on their own recognizance after being charged with sale or distribution of controlled substances.
Although bonds were set in West Memphis Municipal Court from $25,000 to $60,000 on the 10, they were allowed to up any cash because of the overcrowding situation that has plagued the facility, Chief Deputy Bob Cooper said this morning.
"We let 21people out of here on our bond and by professional bondsmen" Friday evening, Cooper said. "We had to. We worked overtime on Friday trying to get down to the legal limit, and now we don't know how many we'll get back from court today."
The county jail is under a federal court order to house no more than 100 inmates at a time. More than 120 people were in jail Friday, Cooper said. The county reserves another 20 beds at Forrest City in the St. Francis County Jail and all those spaces are full, he said.
Another six defendants were jailed after Municipal Judge Pal Rainey set their bonds from $100,000 to $500,000 on the charges. One defendant asked for and received a continuance until Wednesday on his bond hearing. He remains free pending that hearing.
Sixteen of those charged faced Class Y felonies which carry a sentence of up to life in prison. All those arrested when warrants were served last week were issued citations and told to appear in court, first on Wednesday afternoon and then again on Friday morning; all of them were present, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney James C. "Jimbo" Hale, Jr. said.
Those released on their own recognizance after court appearances Friday were:
Derrick Barker, 17, two counts of sale or delivery of a controlled substance, $35,000 each count.
Gary Lee Bohannon, 25, one count $36,000.
Roy Lee Brown, 35, two counts, $35,000 each count.
Terry Lynn Smith, 23, one count, $35,000.
